Leadership

President’s Message

Dear Colleagues,

It’s an exciting time for Vermont ACEP. I’m honored to serve as your Chapter President and energized by the opportunity to build on the incredible work of those who came before me. Our members are a passionate, talented group of emergency physicians, and together, we have the power to make a meaningful impact.

We face real challenges—but no one is more equipped to meet them than emergency physicians. From ensuring all Vermonters have access to high-quality, physician-led care to advocating for safe and sustainable work environments, our collective voice matters. Our rural hospitals, our staffing models, and even our role in the healthcare system are being questioned. We know the truth: emergency medicine is essential—and we are the experts who deliver it.

Let’s focus on three core priorities:

  1. Advocating for access to exceptional, collaborative, and innovative emergency care.
  2. Standing up for safe work environments, refusing to accept boarding, violence, and moral injury as the norm.
  3. Strengthening our rural health system by supporting the next generation of EM physicians and ensuring care is available anywhere, anytime.

We need your voice. Whether you’re ready to take a leadership role or just want to stay more involved, there’s a place for you here. Together, we can elevate emergency care in Vermont.

Thank you for your commitment to our patients, our specialty, and one another. I’m grateful to serve and excited for what we’ll accomplish—together.

Warmly,
Matthew Siket, MD
